Blizzard: a mom-and-pop operation

So, I wanted to spend some extra money I got for Christmas (yes, I still get money from relatives every Christmas), and I wanted to see how much a copy of StarCraft was, or if it was being sold new at all. The first place I go is Blizzard; their online store is shut down until "early January."

On top of never going to make a sequel for the game, their production operation is such a half-assed scheme it's a wonder how they would get by if they ever stopped cranking out rehashes of Warcraft. Check out their FAQs; they find they have to defend themselves against timetables and deadlines for their game releases. Man, if I could get away with that kind of shtick when my homework's due...

Ahem. Happy New Year, everyone. :)

Lamar Hunt, 1932-2006

He helped give soccer a place to play in America. He presented the image that the sport could contribute to the American culture instead of invade it. He helped give all of us a league whose players and competition this country could be proud of,.

For all this and more, we give our thanks.

I love Haloscan

I don't know who Wogger is, but I get to ban him from commenting much easier with Haloscan than with Blogger's proprietary commenting tool.

I love power. :)

8 miles so far. Things will pick up once I finish my term papers by the end of next week.

A pre-New Year's resolution

Run 100 miles before January 3rd.

Why 1/3? I'll be going back to Japan that day for one week. That means a month of averaging just under four miles a day.

I love jogging - got a pretty nice road course just outside the house, going down a hill and back up - and I figure this is where I make my stand to get a base going to do what I always wanted to do every time I see it on TV: run a NYC marathon.

I will need lots of granola bars.
